The Book of Judges
This Sunday (19 June) continues our journey through the book of Judges with our beloved friends Othniel and Ehud. If you read the whole chapter, you'll see that Judges really starts off with a bang (or with a sword in this case.) Although Judges contains a number of difficult texts, this (to me at least) is one of the more challenging. We discussed last Sunday how the whole book of Judges is really about loyalty to God, but in this story, that loyalty involves violence against others in the name of God. How does that reconcile with your understanding of God and the way God is at work in the world today? Join us this Sunday as we wrestle with that question against the backdrop of Judges 3:1-30. Adult Sunday school will meet this Sunday to discuss this text together, and coffee and donuts will be available, so join us!
