The Story of Deborah

Deborah, Judge and Prophet

We head back to Judges this Sunday as we look at Deborah's story. Deborah is the only female judge mentioned in the Bible, and she is also given the appellation of "prophet". Two chapters of Judges are devoted to telling her story, chapter 4 in prose, and chapter 5 in poem or song. Part of the song of Deborah that we'll look at this Sunday may well be one of the oldest writings in scripture, perhaps dating back to the 12th century BC. Join us Sunday as we explore Judges 4-5 together, or come early to discuss it together over coffee and donuts at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall!

Olivia to serve as YAV missionary

Olivia will be leaving 17 August to serve a 1 year appointment as a mission volunteer in Glasgow, UK. She will be serving at Church House Project in the Bridgeton community. The area includes a large number of children and young families dealing with high rates of poverty, addiction, and unemployment. Much of Olivia's work will be with clubs throughout the week, connecting with children and young people through sports, outdoor activities, and arts & crafts. Thanks to your support, Olivia has reached her fundraising goal! We will send Olivia with a commissioning and prayer during morning worship on Sunday, 14 August.

Miss a Sunday?
